GREEN FILTER

As a medium of interaction between indoor and outdoor space and environment, the balcony provides an outdoor environment (sunlight, air) and activities (sports, planting) for people who live indoors. In recent years, environmental pollution has seriously plagued people’s daily life, especially sand, dust, haze and other atmospheric pollution, so people have nowhere to hide. As a transitional area, the balcony should filter and purify dirty air, collect sunlight and rain, and improve the urban environment in addition to its traditional functions.

With this design as the starting point, the design concept of “balcony green network - an environmental filter for creating a better living room” is proposed, emphasizing that through vertical greening, air purification, rainwater collection, water-saving micro-irrigation, and other green technologies, the balcony can play the role of filtering and purifying the air, so that the balcony can play a more important role in the pollution. The balcony becomes the main place for people to experience outdoor activities on polluted hazy days. At the same time, the vertical greening of the balcony also becomes a unique landscape of the city, and the rainwater collection function also has a positive effect on the construction of sponge cities. A balcony is not only an indoor-outdoor space but also a green, healthy, environmental protection and urban landscape platform.
